Western Reserve Municipal Clerk’s Association formed in 1981 and was known as the Lake-Geauga Municipal Clerk’s Association. As the Association grew, Municipal Clerks from eastern Cuyahoga County and Ashtabula County became members, at which time the Association's name was changed to Western Reserve Municipal Clerk’s Association (also known as WRMCA).
WRMCA is an organization whose purpose is to offer members training and educational opportunities, provide members personal encouragement and professional support by promoting the duties, responsibilities and code of ethics of the Municipal Clerk’s profession. Its membership is open to elected, appointed, and retired Clerks of Council, Assistant Clerks of Council, Deputy Clerks of Council, Municipal Clerks, Fiscal Officers, Municipal/Township Clerks,Clerk/Treasurers and County Clerks, and persons with similar responsibilities located in the Western Reserve region of the State of Ohio.
WRMCA provides an opportunity for its members to network at a regular luncheon meetings held at noon at a restaurant on days chosen at the end of the year by its members. The meetings vary from guest speakers to open discussion, both of which address topics pertinent to the Municipal Clerk profession. The Association also provides the opportunity for its more experienced members to be of assistance to members new to the profession by exchanging information and ideas.
WRMCA also provides scholarships to its members to assist in furthering their education in the Municipal Clerk profession, donations to Clerks whose municipality has sustained weather or fire damages, and annually selects up to two organizations as recipients of an end of the year charitable donation.
WRMCA annually elects its President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer; and are governed in accordance with its bylaws.
WRMCA was dissolved after 39 years effective December 31, 2020 by vote of its membership at the Special Meeting of December 9, 2020. It was with regret and reluctance that this decision was made, however, it was time.
